What do you do when you can't get any art done because you spend so much time and energy at your job trying to make money to DO your art?  Make art about your job, obviously.

Page C, Progress

With it being Easter this past weekend, I did much more of eating sweets than painting them.  There isn't a lot of time to whip out the ol' tablet in between baking pastries, piping icing, decorating cakes, and a chocolate coma or two.  Darn those sweet, delicious, Cadbury eggs. 

I did manage to make up one pastry that didn't get victimized by sweet teeth on the prowl after the Easter ham.  Presenting, Cupcake from page C.  Eventually, this cupcake will have a cat wearing it (please refer to previous post), and will be neighbored by a fellow feline in a birthday cake.  For now, I'll just be decorating the other pastries to lay down some ground work before filling in the rest.

Welp, back to baking.  You know, on Page C.

Page C, Concept Sketch

The page concepts thus far for "C"......

C is for cats wearing costumes of cakes.

"We should take these off, I'm concerned we'll get baked!"
"Good idea," said one.  "Hey, look at those crows!"
"Oh no," cried the cats, those crooks stole our clothes!"
"Very clever," said a cat, "but be cautious next time.
We'll catch you then.  You'll pay for your crime!"

I haven't quite figured out how to finish "Page L" yet, but I figured I'd at least be productive while I stew over the matter.  Presenting..... Page B.

Look! A New Book!

I pulled this one deep from the pages of an old sketchbook.  It's an idea I played with for a while, and now with a little time on my hands, I'm happy to be revisiting it.  Titled, "Absolutely Absurd Alphabet," my goal is to create a new, fun book, full of learning with a twist of silly.

Here's what I've been working on over the last couple of days.  "Page L."

These are just initial sketches and some ground work.  I'm currently struggling with the background, since my original ideas aren't meshing as planned.  Open to suggestions.........?

"Listen up, lemurs, don't cheat and don't lie.

If you do, you'll be disqualified!"

"Hurry, lemurs, you're only lucky if you're fast.

Don't be lazy and come in last!"
